Camel Milk

What is camel milk?

Camel milk is milk produced by female camels and dromedaries, consumed for millennia by people in arid regions of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Opaque white in color, with a slightly salty taste and sweet notes, it has always been a fundamental food in the diet of nomadic desert communities. Today, it is also produced in modern farms and consumed in many countries around the world, fresh or in powdered form.

Nutritional composition

Like all milk, it contains proteins, fats, lactose, minerals, and vitamins. Minerals include calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium, and zinc; vitamins include B-group vitamins and vitamin C. Its protein profile is unique: it comprises a wide variety of proteins, some characteristic of this type of milk, and is naturally free of beta-lactoglobulin, one of the main allergenic proteins in cow's milk.

A millennial tradition

For the Bedouins of the Arabian Peninsula, for the Sahara caravans, and for the pastoral communities of the Horn of Africa and Central Asia, the camel has always been a source of sustenance. Its milk accompanied desert crossings and is still a living part of the food culture of many countries, from Morocco to the United Arab Emirates.

From milk to powder: how it is produced

The milk destined for Milky Way Elixir comes from certified farms in the United Arab Emirates. After pasteurization, it is transformed into powder by spray drying, a process that allows for long-term preservation. The powder thus obtained is the basis of our formulation, developed and notified in Italy as a food supplement.

What does it taste like?

The taste surprises those who try it for the first time: slightly salty, with a sweet note and a lighter body compared to cow's milk. In powdered form, dissolved in water or a beverage, it maintains its distinctive character.
